The Science Discovery Center was founded by Dr. John Read, a physics professor at SUNY Oneonta from 1957 to 1985. He also served as the department’s chair from 1983 to 1984 and as director until his retirement in 2005. The science center is located inside the Physical Science Building on campus and has more than 80 interactive science demonstrations for kids.
The Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society sanctuary is one of the best places to see hawks in the state. Visitors can also enjoy nature at the Joseph l. Popp, Jr. Butterfly Conservatory, which houses tropical birds and reptiles. Oneonta is a great place for the entire family to enjoy!

National Soccer Hall of Fame

Wright National Soccer Campus was formerly the National Soccer Hall of Fame and Museum in Oneonta, New York. This facility has hosted various events, including Hall of Fame Induction matches, NCAA Division I Tournament games, U.S. Olympic soccer teams, and the NYS Public High School Championships. It features four professionally maintained 120 X 75-yard natural grass playing fields, handicap-accessible restrooms, food concessions, and ample parking near the fields.
