After early drama from Firmino’s disallowed goal, Liverpool got off to a good start, not a great one but enough to keep them comfortably on top. Spurs appeared to be lost without Dele Alli and Hugo Lloris, two integral parts of their team yet Liverpool didn’t take advantage of this.
Towards the end of the first half Wijnaldum scored with an impressive header from the centre of the box. This puts the Reds at ease going into the second half. Gomez got caught off guard by Moura, nearly leading to a goal but Van Dijk and Alisson picked up his slack. Firmino didn’t let his early setback stop him and powered forward to bring the score to 2-0. After this the game quietened down despite Salah’s best efforts, until Spurs scored in the final two minutes.
People are beginning to call into question Mane’s decision making as he misses what could have been two goals if he’d worked with Salah. Is he working to not be outshone by his teammate? Despite playing an average game, Liverpool still end up on top of Spurs. How long can we keep up playing this way?
