So its here, as great as good as our pre season has been, it’s time for the season start, and time for our first attempt of naming Liverpool’s first XI….
Alisson: If you pay 67m for a goalkeeper you have to assume that he’s going to play the majority of games, if not all of them.
Alexander-Arnold: This was less than straight forward, Clyne, due to Arnold’s selection in England’s World Cup squad, has played most of Liverpool’s pre season games, and has quietly impressed. I do however believe that the boss will go with young Trent if he feels our young right back is ready.
Van Dijk: For me I believe that Van Dijk will be one of, if not the first name on each league game team sheet this season.
Klavan: With Lovren only just returning after his World Cup exploits and Gomez and Matip both nursing knocks, I believe Klopp will go with the big Estonian.
Robertson: Like Alisson and Van Dijk, I believe unless Robertson is carrying a knock or is ill, he’ll be one of Klopp’s first name on any team sheet.
Winjaldum: This was a tough one, after Milner’s Gary Butcher moment last weekend and Fabinho suffering from illness this week, I believe the boss won’t want to risk either of them. Gini showed last season he’s more than capable of playing the number 6 role.
Keïta: With his impressive performances in preseason I can’t look past our number 8 as a starter for us.
Shaqiri: Despite only having 2-3 games in pre season, due to his involvement in Switzerland’s World Cup squad, it’s fair to say little Xherdan has impressed and I believe he’ll get the nod in our advanced midfield role.
Salah: After his Champions League nightmare and disappointing World Cup, I’m sure our Mo will be chomping at the bit.
Firmino: Bobby in the two games he has played in preseason, never looked like he’d been away.
Mané: Injury permitting, our front 3 will play the majority of home games and I can’t see past our trio for our Premier League curtain raiser.
Finally the real stuff begins, come on you redmen!
