Predicted XI: Red Star Belgrade (A)

It’s Champions League night again, and after dropping points in the league at the weekend the reds will be wanting to take maximum points in Belgrade this evening.

Alisson : For the first time for me on Sunday, Alisson looked a bit shaky against Arsenal, coming and not claiming a cross, and palming a cross  back into the penalty area. Still wouldn’t trust any of our other keepers between the sticks as of yet.

Gomez : I thought TTA struggled on Sunday so I think for this evenings game, the boss may bring Gomez to right back. Gomez has proven so far this season that as good as he is at centre back, he’s more than an able deputy at right back.

Lovren : If Gomez moves to right back, naturally Dejan comes in and deputises at Centre Back. Has looked good when he’s played so far this season.

Van Dijk: Not many of our players came out of the Arsenal with glowing reviews, but Van Dijk was a colossus again. If it wasn’t for Virgil, one point would’ve certainly been none at the weekend.

Robertson: Can’t put my finger on what’s wrong with our first choice full backs at present. Neither has played at their best thus far, especially defensively. Hopefully they will be back to their best soon.

Fabinho: Fabinho came in for quite a bit of criticism after the Arsenal game, and I personally think he was caught out by the pace of the game. After waiting for such a long time to get a run in the team, I think taking him out could do more damage than good.

Winjaldum: Winjaldum had rare off day against Arsenal, but he wasn’t alone. He’s been one of our star performers so far this season, and I think his craft and guile will be needed in Belgrade tonight.

Lallana : With Shaqiri staying at home, I believe Klopp may use this opportunity to give Lallana another run out. He’s looked massively off the pace so far this season, but that is to be suspected when he’s had so long out with injury.

Mane : Mane despite having a legitimate goal chalked off for offside on Sunday, looked a little labouring against Arsenal. There seemed to be a bit of pace lacking, and not the same urgency.

Sturridge: I think Firmino is struggling from a World Cup hangover, and tonight might be the time give him a rest. Sturridge has impressed every time he’s taken to the field so far this season, so I’d definitely give him a run out in Belgrade.

Salah : Salah was another who looked a little off the pace against Arsenal. He like so many of the team of late, seems to be making the wrong decisions in the final third. We are still waiting for our front three to “click” hopefully it’ll be sooner rather than later!
