Predicted XI: Bayern Munich (H)

It’s time for another great European night at Anfield, with German giants Bayern Munich arriving at L4 in the last 16 first leg match of the Champions League. To be quite honest the break away from the stress of the Premier League title hunt might do the Reds some good!

Here’s who The Anfield Talk’s Ian (@ianyoungkop) thinks will take to the pitch tonight.

Alisson: After a couple of games looking a little unsure, Alisson looks to be getting back to his best! I’m pretty sure Alisson is looking forward to getting the first choice back four home.

Trent Alexander-Arnold: It’ll be good to see TAA back at right back, I really think that  we’ve struggled to cover this position, and hopefully it’ll make everyone remember how good TAA is.

Fabinho: With Lovren and Gomez out injured and Van Dijk suspended we are down to our bare bones as far as centre backs go, which of course means we are losing our best defensive midfielder to defence.

Matip: Our two centre backs are as probably far away as first choice we can get, so our midfield need to on the ball defensively. Matip has looked an able deputy when used so far this season.

Robertson: Is Robertson currently the best left back in Europe, no better chance to check this theory than in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Henderson: Deliberated over this one for a while, whether it would be Milner or Henderson, and went for Henderson as he’s probably looked most comfortable out of himself and Milner in that position in here.

Wijnaldum: Gini gave a man of the match performance in his last game, so I can’t see him slipping to the bench for this game.

Keïta: Naby looks like he’s ready to take off in the red shirt and hopefully his form is going to hit at the business end of the season and some of our fans can get off his back.

Mané: Mané is bang in form and I’m sure he’ll relish getting going again in the final stages of greatest European trophy.

Shaqiri: With Firmino suffering with a virus and United away on the horizon it maybe not the craziest thing is leave him on the bench, it let Shaqiri loose on his former club.

Salah: It was great seeing Salah back in his position from last season, but if Firmino doesn’t make it, I think we’ll see Salah moved back central.
