Arsenal away is always a tricky match, and with Arsenal winning twelve and drawing one, it doesn’t look like that’s about to change. Here’s the team I think Klopp will choose to try and bring home the three points. The Anfield Talk’s Ian (@ianyoungkop) looks at how he thinks Liverpool will line up at the Emirates.
Alisson: I’ve said this before this season one or two times, but I think this’ll been Alisson’s toughest test to date. Arsenal will create chances, and Alisson will need to make saves today if he wants to keep a clean sheet.
Gomez: In the last couple of Premier League matches, Klopp has gone with Joe Gomez over Trent Alexander Arnold, and I think today will be the same.
Van Dijk: After losing that singular goal against Cardiff last week, Virgil will be desperate to keep a clean sheet this time around. Like I said previous, I think this game will be our biggest test defensively so, Virgil will need to be at his colossal best.
Lovren: Lovren should be completely recovered from his injury now, and in the last couple of games he’s started with Gomez going to right back. This Arsenal team has a more bigger and physical look to it, so Lovren needs to be at his best!
Robertson: As Robertson got a rest last week, I fully believe he’ll back on the pitch this one. I thought Moreno played ok and was unfairly criticised, but there’s always a significant drop off when Moreno plays instead of “Robbo”. Even like at times this season when Robertson hasn’t been at his best.
Fabinho: Since Fabinho has come in and started games he’s been quietly impressing. Breaking up play and seemingly always looking for the forward pass, the Anfield faithful seem to be taking to him, and hopefully this is just the beginning.
Winjaldum: As I’ve said on so many occasions this season, I believe that “Gini” has been our most improved player this season. Breaking up attacks and getting our own going as well as contributing with the odd goal, Winjaldum has become one of the first names on the team sheet!
Milner: Not completely sure Klopp will trust Shaqiri against such a big team away from home just yet, and Milner’s experience will be imperative today.
Mane: Individually our front 3 seem to be getting back to what they were last season, and the stats would definitely suggests, although clicking as a unit seems to be more problematic, and hopefully playing together, the latter will happen sooner rather than later!
Firmino: Firmino in the last couple of games has been playing it seems in a deeper role, which has helped our creativity further back, however it sometimes means he’s not in the box where we need him. If him and Klopp can work out a fine balance between the two, it could be very fruitful for us indeed.
Salah: Salah seems to be getting his mojo back in the last couple of games, and if he, Mane and Bobby can click together like they did last season and with our new and improved defence, we could be an absolute force the rest of this season.
