THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT.

Jürgen Klopp turned to the kids again for Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup tie with Arsenal. A thrilling game ensued, with ten goals being scored between the two sides, with the tie eventually being decided by penalties.

It was Liverpool’s youngsters who impressed, with the senior pros decidedly off the mark. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain stepped up to the mark, with a cracking long range goal.

Up the Reds.

Caoimhin Kelleher- 7/10
I think for their first he could’ve done better, as he tipped into the path of the scorer, but other than that he wasn’t at fault for any of the goals. Strong hand for the penalty save.
Neco Williams- 8/10
Thought he impressed. Was good defending and attacking down the left, by no means a flawless performance but plenty of endeavour and put in the ball that got the equaliser.
Joe Gomez- 6/10
Don’t think this was his finest performance by any means. With Matip our for the foreseeable future it would’ve been nice to see him stamp his authority on a game like that, so it’s a shame that he didn’t.
Sepp van den Berg- 6/10
Thought he had a really poor first half. Struggled with most things, like passing, like defending, like running. Grew into the game and was better second half. Will have learned a lot from that ninety minutes.
James Milner- 5/10
In games like these you want your senior pros to be one you can hang your hat on and James Milner was dropping hats all over the gaff. Left a backpass very short for one of their goals and spent the last fifteen or so minutes smashing anything that came near him long.
Adam Lallana- 7/10
It’s a little bit mental but I actually think he’s a decent option as the six against weaker opposition. Some nice footwork and turns out of tight spaces.
Naby Keïta- 4/10
Thought he was shite, to be quite frank. Gave away possession in dangerous areas in the first half and then got injured again.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain- 7/10
Scores an absolute peach of a goal. Disappointed he didn’t celebrate it. Don’t think it was his finest performance but it’s good to see him performing well, hopefully this is the start of him getting a proper run in the team.

Harvey Elliott- 8/10
Makes a mistake for one of their goals but never hid. Wins the penalty to get Liverpool back into the game. Played some delightful balls in and showed some great touches on the ball. Looks completely at home playing at Anfield.
Rhian Brewster- 6/10
Thought he showed a few nice touches but that was about it. I don’t know if I’m being overly harsh on him but I feel like I’m expecting more from him and he isn’t delivering.
Divock Origi- 7/10
I mean, I really don’t know. Rate him yourselves.

I think he’s largely rubbish, yet he walks off the pitch with two goals a penalty scored. He’s clearly doing something right.

Substitutes
Curtis Jones- 8/10
Impressed when he came on. Showed some nice footwork and was unlucky not to notch a goal. Scored the winning penalty.
Pedro Chirivella- N/A
Ran on. Possibly ineligibly.

Their Celebrations- 10/10
Doing kneeslides to celebrate equalising against some sixteen year olds. Classy.
Fronting the crowd for taking the lead against some sixteen year olds, to go on and lose the game on penalties. Phenomenal.

Mesut Özil- 10/10
Come and play for a proper team, lad. It’s more fun.
