Player Ratings: Liverpool 3 Southampton 0

Hoedt (10’, og), Matip (21’), Salah (45+3’)

The Reds made it six out of six as they dispatched Southampton in the first half. An own goal from Hoedt opened proceedings, before Joel Matip towered over everyone at a corner to nod home. Mo Salah topped things off, reacting quickly to be first to the rebound from Shaqiri’s free kick.

Up the Jeremy Corbyn Reds.

Alisson Becker- 8/10
Didn’t really have anything to do but made a clever save in the last ten minutes. Looked gorgeous.
Trent Alexander-Arnold- 8/10
He’s so good. Threatened constantly down the right, and showed why he’s so easily kept Nathaniel Clyne out of the team.
Joel Matip- 8/10
Sometimes is good and sometimes is shite. Was shite. Gave it away on the edge of the box. Decided to be good and bang one in up the other end. Not convinced his 50p head meant it, mind.
Virgil van Dijk- 8/10
Was good. Got injured. If he needs a rib I’m not doing anything with mine.
Andrew Robertson- 8/10
As with Trent, he’s so good. Easily one of the best full back partnerships in the league.
Georginio Wijnaldum- 7/10
Think he struggled early on as he was overrun, but I think that was mostly due to our shape. Once that was sorted he was sound.
Jordan Henderson- 8/10
Another good showing from the skipper, keeping things ticking over, especially in the second half. Allowed us to control the pace.

Xherdan Shaqiri- 8/10
Nice to see him sort of get a goal, his shot ricocheting in and being bundled over the line by a Southampton defender. Nice little run out for him, it was a shame to see him subbed off so early.
Sadio Mané- 8/10
Don’t think he was anywhere near as good as he can be today but was still good. Fast and tricky and all the things you want.
Roberto Firmino- 8/10
Played well in the pockets and linked up with others well, showing some nice little flicks. Unlucky not to notch a goal.
Mohamed Salah- 8/10
Finally gets his goal after such a long drought. Was starting the get concerned. Truth be told, he could have had more.

James Milner- 8/10
Ran on. Was the business.
Naby Keïta- 8/10
Ran on. Was the business.
Joe Gomez- 8/10
Ran on. Was the business.

Jeremy Corbyn- 10/10
Blessed us with his presence. A truly wonderful man. Caused some fume off some Tory Reds so that’s all good.
