Salah (23’)

ALISSON BECKER’S A MAD MAN.

A gorgeous mad man. A lunatic. Chipping the ball as calm as you like. It’s wonderful.

The Reds are wonderful.

James Milner and Mohamed Salah force an error and punish it. That is the only goal of the game and is the difference. Mohamed Salah is, once again, the difference.

But it is Alisson who I think deserves the plaudits. A divine chip. A great last minute save. A £65m man who will never concede a goal.

Up the Alisson Becker Reds.

Alisson Becker- 10/10
He’s gorgeous, isn’t he? Had me in town when he chipped it, and produced a fine reaction save near the death to keep the clean sheet. Genuinely think we may never concede again.

Trent Alexander-Arnold- 8/10
Was a constant threat going forward and seems to have a good link with Salah. Hit a couple of superb crossfield balls. Went close twice, once with a brilliant free kick. One day one of them’s going top bins.
Joe Gomez- 7/10
Was sound. Got caught under one long ball forward (I don’t think that’s the last time I’ll say that this season).
Virgil van Dijk- 7/10
Was sound. Didn’t get caught under one.
Andrew Robertson- 8/10
Like Trent, he was a threat going forward. Practically played as a winger for the majority of the game and put some fine crosses in, though he could have done better with his chance at the end.
James Milner- 7/10
Got volleyed all over the gaff and got up each time. 32 years old.
Georginio Wijnaldum- 7/10
Was dead good in midfield, battled and fought well.
Naby Keïta- 6/10
Made a couple of marauding runs through midfield which drew fouls at the end. Think it’s his worst game so far, but it was by no means bad.
Sadio Mané- 5/10
His touch was off and he wasn’t at it. Honestly can’t say I saw him in the second half.
Roberto Firmino- 7/10
Was really unlucky to see a terrific save keep out his header early on. Still think he’s nursing a bit of a World Cup hangover.

Mohamed Salah- 7/10
Don’t think he was brilliant, some of his decisions in the final third were poor but he gets the goal.

Substitutes
Jordan Henderson- 7/10
Came on and sorted things out again. Was a calming presence in the middle of midfield.
Daniel Sturridge- 10/10
Gorgeous. Sad that he won’t score with his touch every game.
Joel Matip- N/A
Think he’s rubbish and made of glass and I was concerned that bringing a third centre half on at 1-0 was going to end badly once again. I forgot that Alisson’s never conceding.
