THE REDS ARE INTO THE QUARTER FINALS OF THE CHAMPIONS LEAGUE.
It wasn’t flashy, it wasn’t exuberant but it was functional and it was professional. That was all that was needed to see the Reds progress and pick up no injuries ahead of this weekend’s crucial tie with Manchester United.
I’ve said it before but it’s worth reiterating: if you don’t think Jordan Henderson is lifting the great big shiny thing in Kiev in May then you need to grow up.
Up the Champions League Reds.
Loris Karius- 7/10
Si the Mig’s birthday and he didn’t even get a game in the deadest of rubbers. Anyway, Loz Karius did alright. Some nice rolling of the ball. Didn’t have to do much.
Joe Gomez- 7/10
Honestly can’t remember him doing much, got forward quite well though.
Joel Matip- 5/10
Looked completely disinterested in winning any aerial duels early on and played a poor backpass to Karius. Would have hooked him on twenty if it were me in the technical area. That’s probably a good reason I’m not.
Dejan Lovren- 8/10
Did alright at what limited defending he had to do. Smashed one right out of play though, when I’m not sure he needed to.
Alberto Moreno- 7/10
Oh Albie, how I have missed you. Loads of mad stuff, a great tackle and some poor shots on goal. Got forward a lot.
Emre Can- 7/10
Don’t know. He was fine.
Jordan Henderson- 8/10
Along with Milner he was setting the tempo. Some really good passes to try and get players in behind which didn’t always come off, but good to see the intent and the range of passing.
James Milner- 8/10
Quite probably man of the match. Ran loads and seemed to dictate a lot of the play, and puts in a wonderful ball for Mané’s big chance.
Sadio Mané- 7.5/10
Unlucky to not leave the field with at least one goal to his name. Did the best he could with the volley that he sends inches over and unlucky to not see his later strike rebound in off the post.
Roberto Firmino- 7/10
As always, worked tirelessly, loads of nice stuff that you come to expect from him.
Adam Lallana- 6/10
Had a lengthy layoff so is working up his fitness. His feet are still as quick and as sharp as ever which is good, but he looked out of place in the front three. Hopefully that understanding will come with time.
Danny Ings- 7/10
Did alright. Should’ve scored. Hopefully sold in the summer.
Mo Salah- 8/10
Don’t know why he came on but his first touch was sexual.
Ragnar Klavan- 7/10
Nice to see him but no tricks, just fouls.
