Player Ratings: Crystal Palace 1 Liverpool 2

Milivojevic (13′) // Mané (49′), Salah (84′)

Crystal Palace are a perennial thorn in Liverpool’s back but they have been conquered. The double has been done over them.

It wasn’t beautiful, not by a long stretch, but it was a win and it is three points and that’s all that matters and that in itself is simply gorgeous.

Now onto the biggest week in Liverpool’s season. Three massive games which could see the Reds emerge as the greatest set of lads or as wholly deflated.

Season defining.

Up the gorgeous Reds.

Loris Karius- 6/10
Made a good save with his chest early on but made a mistake for the penalty, that said, those around him weren’t helping the situation. Made another good save later in the game.
Trent Alexander-Arnold- 5.5/10
Poor first half as he was caught out by balls over the top for Zaha. The penalty comes from one such situation. Recovered well in the second half though, getting forward a lot more and putting good balls into the box.
Joel Matip- 5/10
Looked completely disinterested in helping Trent Alexander-Arnold and was partly at fault for their penalty.
Virgil van Dijk- 7/10
By far the stronger of the two centre halves. Decided to Mark Benteke like an actual centre halve after Matip decided he didn’t fancy it. Poor for their second chance in a minute in the second half but got away with it as Benteke doesn’t fancy scoring.
Andrew Robertson- 8/10
Played well. Got forward well and was a threat all game long. The cut back for Salah’s goal is brilliant.
James Milner- 7/10
Filled in well for Lucas in the ‘giving away stupid free kicks in dangerous areas’ role. Better second half and played his part in Mané’s goal.
Jordan Henderson- 6.5/10
Loses the header for the penalty but to be fair to him Benteke’s about six foot eleven or something ridiculous and Joel Matip didn’t want to be a centre half. Was poor at times in the first half but a better second half.
Georginio Wijnaldum- 0/10
Did he play?
Sadio Mané- 7/10
Would’ve had a penalty if he didn’t do a shite jump and should definitely have been sent off for the handball incident. Loads of good things though, nice touch, good passing and gets the equaliser. Could’ve had a goal earlier too. Mind you, he did clear van Dijk’s header off the line.
Roberto Firmino- 7/10
As always, worked tirelessly, loads of nice stuff that you come to expect from him. Was restricted to pot shots early on but grew into it.
Mohamed Salah- 7/10
Was kept relatively quiet but still manager to go close. Then he gets the winner with such calmness and coolness to just wait for Sakho to fall over and slots it in the other corner.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain- 7/10
Added drive to the midfield when he came on and played a part in the winner.
Adam Lallana- N/A
Got injured again. It’s sad but that’s probably him finished at Liverpool.
Dejan Lovren- 6/10
Did some good work as part of the back three.

Mamadou Sakho- 0/10
Shite. Glad he’s gone. Makes the initial mistake for our first and gets sat down by Salah for the second. Allez allez allez.

Roy Hodgson- 0/10
An actual fossil.

Neil Swarbrick- 0/10
Fair play to him getting every decision wrong, at least he was consistent in that.
