Coutinho (20′), Lovren (26′), Salah (44′), Firmino (66′)
THE REDS HAVE A GREAT DAY ON THE SOUTH COAST.
Liverpool exorcise all their demons from their last visit, with a controlling display. Goals from Coutinho, Lovren, Salah and Firmino sealed the win which also saw Adam Lallana make his return to the side.
Up the south coast Reds.
Simon Mignolet- 6/10
Didn’t really have anything to do.
Joe Gomez- 8/10
Always struggle to know what to say about Gomez, he was sound. Defended well and got forward a fair bit.
Dejan Lovren- 8/10
Was as solid as he needed to be. One really good tackle that wasn’t a foul, played some nice balls forward and showed great bravery with his diving header for the goal.
Ragnar Klavan- 7/10
As with Degsy Lovren, was solid aside from a short period in the first half that started with Jermaine Defoe striking the post. Managed to bring the ball out of defence well.
Andrew Robertson- 8/10
Did his defending well. Made a good run for Coutinho’s goal and continued to make clever runs throughout. Nice that Coutinho acknowledged his existence.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain- 8/10
Brought us out of tight spaces well and brought the ball forward well. Was a delightful blend of centre mid and winger, with the way he assisted the attack but also helped out defensively when needed. Perhaps unlucky not to walk off with a goal.
Was gorgeous in his post match interview, stepping in to assist Coutinho.
Jordan Henderson- 9/10
Broke up loads of play in the first ten. Back to his metronomic best with the passes he was playing forward for the front three to chase onto.
Georginio Wijnaldum- 7/10
Pressed and sat well when required, and maybe I’m being harsh here, but I felt he always took the easy option and played with very little endeavour. But, a good performance all the same.
Mohamed Salah- 9/10
Had a couple of efforts but didn’t look arsed when they missed, he knows he’s scoring. The defenders know he’s scoring. The goalkeeper knows he’s scoring. Imagine having to defend against a player who you know is going to score a goal. Absolutely boss.
Roberto Firmino- 9/10
Worked hard and got his reward, a lovely flick on from Coutinho’s ball in. Pressed and harried all night.
Philippe Coutinho- 10/10
Still not quite sure how the free kick didn’t go in. Still not quite sure how he kept his balance for the first. Beautiful ball for Firmino’s goal. Generally boss.
Adam Lallana- 7/10
Good to see him back. Was good in tight spaces and made a delightful foul on Jordon Ibe.
Dominic Solanke- N/A
Ran on the pitch.
Danny Ings- N/A
Ran on the pitch without getting injured.
