It’s FA Cup 3rd round time and I fully expect a much changed team at Molineux tonight. Here’s my First XI prediction and I’m going on record as saying I’ll be very surprised if I get this team anything close to right!
Mignolet: The boss has already confirmed that Simon will make the first XI for tonight’s game, so it’s all about making an impression from the Belgian shot stopper who hasn’t made an appearance in over six months.
Hoever: Not sure whether he’ll start, but with Jurgen Klopp bigging him up in the latest press conference, I wouldn’t be surprised if he got named in the start. If he does he’ll be the youngest FA Cup player for Liverpool.
Lovren: Didn’t have the best of games against Manchester City, but I think another game to get it out of his system might be the best thing for him.
Van Dijk: With the Reds looking a bit slim at centre back I’m not sure we have the players to rotate in this position unless he goes with Camacho at right back and Hoever at centre back.
Moreno: Moreno is the other player other than Mignolet who the boss has confirmed will play. With Alberto’s contract situation, this could be one of Moreno’s last game for LFC. Could he go out on a high?
Fabinho: When Fabinho came on against Manchester City, he changed the game for me, in my personal opinion Fabinho needs to be another permanent fixture in our first XI.
Keita: Is it time we unleash Naby and give him a run in the team? For me, the Gini, Henderson and Milner midfield needs to be left behind in 2018 and what better time than an FA Cup 3rd round tie to explore our options?
Lallana: Lallana hasn’t had much time on the field this year, but we all know how big a fan Klopp is of him. Would be surprised if Lallana didn’t get a start tonight.
Shaqiri: After not starting against City I think Xherdan would classed as one of our big hitters to start. Another option would be to start Curtis Jones in that role, but I’m not sure whether Klopp will be willing to do that.
Sturridge: I’ll be very surprised if Daniel doesn’t get a start tonight, he hasn’t let anyone down this season when he’s taken to the pitch and I’m surprised he’s not had more minutes.
Origi: With rumours of a switch to Fulham materialising this week, this may or may not be Divock’s last game for the club, how great would it be if he could fire us into the next round of the Cup?
Well there’s my prediction for tonight’s team, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I got 2/11! Do you agree with this first XI? Tweet me at @ianyoungkop
