If we win today, we go 3 points clear with a game in hand. But some media outlets, they’d like you to think we are in crisis. Some of our own fans have even entered a stage of panic. So we could do with 3 points today, to calm everyone down! (hopefully anyway).
Here’s the first XI I think Klopp will select for today’s game against Bournemouth.
Alisson: Still to me looks like he’s being effected by the fact he’s lost half of his first choice back four and a couple of back ups. His kicking hasn’t looked anywhere as assured. Come on, lad!
Alexander-Arnold: People keeping talking about how losing Trent Alexander Arnold has effected our defence, and they’d be right, but I also believe it’s effected our attacking, as we’ve lost balance in the wing areas. It’s going to be good to have him back.
Matip: The guy fills me with utter dread when he plays the way he played on Monday night, the amount of times he was caught upfield out of possession was scary. He can also look assured on the ball at times and I hope that’s the Matip we see today.
Van Dijk: Has looked a little rattled by the defence around him, and I think it’s had an effect on his performances as well, let’s hope Liverpool’s surly defence returns soon.
Robertson: Another player who had an off day against West Ham. His final ball was wasteful and kept getting caught out of position. Knowing his demeanour, he’ll hopefully spring back today.
Fabinho: Seemed quite calm, despite the craziness around him, could’ve done with him grabbing the game by the scruff of the neck like we know he can. I hope to see Fabinho and Keita blossoming together.
Wijnaldum: Liverpool’s most consistent midfielder was missed on Monday, rarely spectacular, even more rarely poor, if he’s fit I fully expect him to walk back into our team today.
Keita: Naby is fast becoming the fans scapegoat for any poor team performance he’s involved in. Thought he was distinctly below average in the first half on Monday, but improved immensely in the second half. I believe it would be a mistake to take him out of the team today.
Mane: Despite scoring our goal on Monday night, Mane wasn’t on the ball on Monday night, looked almost like he was trying too hard on Monday.
Firmino: Firmino was really poor on Monday night, I generally if Bobby’s poor then Liverpool are poor. Seems to be having an inconsistent season, which I put down to a World Cup hangover and change of position.
Salah: Salah really struggled on Monday night, running in to dead ends and holding on to the ball for too long. I’m hoping we get to see Salah and Firmino change back to the positions they played in last season.
That’s the team I think will take to the pitch today, do you agree with me, tweet me at @ianyoungkop!
