Roberto Firmino enjoyed a strong season last season and put pen to paper on a long term contract. The Anfield Talk’s Sam (@sammillnelfc) discusses the Brazilian…
Liverpool once again go into the new season with a formidable attack and Roberto Firmino is its spearhead. His value cannot be underestimated and recent quotes suggest he only sees his future at Liverpool.
As the new season has been getting well and truly underway, Roberto Firmino has been speaking to ‘The Mirror’ regarding his future.
Any lingering thoughts at the back of the mind regarding Firmino potentially being poached by Barcelona in the future were eased when the Brazilian recently went on record, saying ‘I’m only interested in Liverpool and winning everything I can with them’.
Firmino’s reassurance of his commitment to Liverpool will come as with a sigh of relief to Reds. Only in the last four years, have two world-class South Americans made the move to Catalunya.
The worry of the ‘South American dream’ being realized yet again is one that is put on the backburner whilst Salah and Mane take headlines, however, there is always a lingering doubt that Firmino may want to reignite his footballing partnership with his best man, Philippe Coutinho.
Coutinho and Luis Suarez have both made the path from Liverpool to Spain a well-worn one recently, however, the club has recently been quick to assure supporters that transfer rumours linking Liverpool’s star men away are unfounded and even branded a rumour suggesting Sadio Mane could leave for Madrid as ‘nonsense’.
In the same interview, Firmino went on to say that Liverpool ‘have the best supporters in the world … they are amazing’, only confirming his happiness on Merseyside.
These quotes only enhance the chances of us getting to watch our Bobby for many years to come.
