Danny Ward close to Leicester City switch

Liverpool goalkeeper, Danny Ward, is close to a £12m move to Leicester City, The Anfield Talk understands. The proposed move has been touted by a number of reputable sources over the past few hours and Ward looks set to leave Liverpool to aid his search of first team football following Liverpool’s inevitable acquisition of Alisson Becker from AS Roma.

Ward played 46 times on loan at Huddersfield, helping them to promotion to the Premier League.

Ward looked set to go into the new season as Liverpool number one, following Loris Karius losing all faith from Jurgen Klopp. However, Liverpool have set their sights on Alisson and are going to have their £66.8m Brazilian starting in net instead.

Danny Ward spent last season as Liverpool’s third choice goalkeeper after a successful loan spell at Huddersfield the season before, but it still wasn’t enough to convince Klopp of his pedigree as a goalkeeper so a move away from Anfield makes sense for the Welsh international.

The 25-year-old, who coincidentally shares an exact birthday with Loris Karius, will hope that the transfer merry-go-round that is happening this summer will allow for him to start for Leicester, should Kasper Schmeichel join Chelsea.

Stay tuned to The Anfield Talk for all the latest updates on this story and all other Liverpool transfers.
