Predicted XI: Plymouth Argyle vs. Liverpool

Liverpool go up against Plymouth once again tonight with the hope of reaching the 4th round of the prestigious FA Cup. Plymouth earned the replay with an inspired performance in a 0-0 at Anfield a week and a half ago, Liverpool’s team will be hard to predict once again as we play in one of the two domestic cup competitions.

Goalkeeper and Defence

Karius, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Klavan, Gomez, Moreno

This is probably the easiest part of the team to predict, with Jurgen Klopp confirming that Loris Karius would once again get his chance in the cup competition and the absence of Joel Matip is to continue until Liverpool hear back from FIFA regarding the farce that is his standing with the Cameroonian national team and the African Cup of Nations.

With Clyne injured with a rib problem, TAA should retain his miraculous starting position for the weekend, and Klavan will partner Joe Gomez due to the absence of the big man at the back, also, Alberto Moreno will get a fair opportunity at the team, having James Milner as the plpayer ahead of you, in the form that he is in, Moreno should be taking these chances as well as possible.

Midfield

Stewart, Ejaria, Wijnaldum

First off, Can gets a rest, he’s been playing every game recently in cup and league and he looked particularly knackered towards the end of the Manchester United game on the weekend so he is omitted from my starting eleven. Gini Wijnaldum could well have won us the game last Sunday and with the responsibility of being the most senior midfielder of the team would give him a chance to redeem himself. Other than that, I’d go with the youth talent that is Oviemuno Ejaria in the midfield who has only impressed in his outings so far this season, showing maturity beyond his years, and the not-so-youth youth in Kevin Stewart, who is a “fan-favourite” around these parts. It’d be interesting to see how the trio work together, even if it is very makeshift and could be exploited by a good side who know what they are doing, but I doubt that the Pilgrims are looking that much into tonight’s game.

Attack

Wilson, Sturridge, Ojo

Under23’s captain Harry Wilson travelled with the first team to Devon on the plane this morning and after top performances in the under 23 side from the beginning of the season, he is more than deserving of his opportunity to get into the squad, and it’d be nice to see yet another youth player show up in the first team this season, alongside Sheyi Ojo, who has recently come back for injury and made a solid re-start to his Liverpool career in the home tie against Plymouth recently.

The main man. Daniel Sturridge. He will obliterate the Plymouth defence in my honest opinion, and there will be nothing the players in green will be able to do with Sturridge eager to show his class and ability after claiming to be the best striker at Liverpool, even Jurgen Klopp doesn’t favour him. He’s talked the talk, now he needs to walk the walk and carry us to another 4th Round appearance in the historic FA Cup.
