Player Ratings: Plymouth Argyle 0 Liverpool 1

Lucas (18′)

Boring boring boring. The replay possibly more boring than the first, but at least this time we scored a goal. It’s a shame that such a momentous goal came in such a boring game, sign Lucas Leiva nodding home to score his first goal in seven years (but he scored one in training last week!).

Good outings for the youngsters, minutes for Coutinho, through into the next round. Positives.

Up the Lucas Leiva Reds.

Loris Karius- 7/10
Clean sheet, good save when called upon and made a very good punch from a free kick. One flap but aside from that very good showing.
Trent Alexander-Arnold- 8/10
Wonderful. I love him you know. Solid, good going forward. Can put a cracking ball in too. Second best right back in the world (and he’s not even a right back).
Joe Gomez- 7/10
Another ninety minutes for him. Solid, back heel out of danger, dealt with Garita well. Basically booked for having legs.

Lucas- 7/10
Goal. Goal. Goal. Lucas Leiva scored a goal. And it’s a very good goal to be fair to him. One little wobble but otherwise sound. Goal.
Alberto Moreno- 8/10
He’s actually dead good you know. Wins the pen (wish he’d taken it), always an option on the left, some good interceptions and generally defensively sound.
Kevin Stewart- 6/10
Some good tackles but ultimately some questions over the future of his career rise. He probably doesn’t break into the first team now and I’m finding it hard to see where he gets games. Crossroads.
Ovie Ejaria- 6/10
Passing was excellent. Always managed to find himself in space. Showed some good touches but didn’t have a massive effect on the game.
Philippe Coutinho- 6/10
Didn’t do anything spectacular but notable that he’s the only player in that midfield that can actually weight a long ball properly, and keep some pace on it. 60 minutes in the legs.
Divock Origi- 4/10
Poor. Played in all three positions across the front three and did nothing of note in any of them. Penalty miss: shockingly bad. Nice move at the end but shot over.

Daniel Sturridge- 5/10
Poor. A five feels harsh, he wasn’t exactly bad; anything higher than five feels generous; he didn’t do a great deal. Didn’t have the service though, his movement was terrific, but the players around him were perhaps a little cautious and weren’t playing the ball quickly enough. The two times he gets the ball in a dangerous position he should have a penalty and then gets a good shot off.
The shouts about him having a “poor attitude” and being “lazy” have resurfaced, and I reckon you don’t have a clue.
Ben Woodburn- 6/10
Struggled to get into it in the first half but once he’s moved deeper and more central he finds it easier to get time on the ball. Decent showing.

Harry Wilson- 7/10
Nearly gegenpresses a goal the second he steps on the pitch. Lovely hair.
Sheyi Ojo- 7/10
Comes on and is probably our brightest forward. Booked.

Their Fans- 0/10
Shite. Singing the Ste Gerrard Gerrard song when he has more history in his little finger than your entire club. Booing our You’ll Never Walk Alone in memory of one of your fans. Pricks.

The Referee- 0/10
So, waved away a blatant penalty on Sturridge, but books Gomez for having legs? Okay mate. Oh, and if it isn’t a penalty on Sturridge surely he needs to book him for simulation? Mike Dean rip-off version.

My hatred of Plymouth Argyle that I generated in about a week and a half- 10/10
The pricks.
