Okazaki (45+3′), Vardy (69′) // Salah (15′), Coutinho (23′), Henderson (68′)
THE REDS ARE BACK AND THE REDS ARE ABSOLUTELY MUSTARD.
This is a big win. You might even say the biggest of the season so far. It arrests a period of poor form, it sets the platform to build upon in further games. Most importantly, it gets three points on the board.
There’s a number of great performances, but quite frankly all fourteen of the Reds who are involved today deserve heaps of credit. All of them battled and battled and fought and fought. Shouted and got in the faces of the officials, took yellows for dissent. Everything you want.
There’s obvious issues defensively but leave that for another day, the Reds were majestic and battled and fought for each other and for the win.
Up the Reds.
Simon Mignolet- 7/10
Utterly mental. Genuinely don’t have a clue how to summarise his game. Makes some great saves, should probably do better for Vardy’s goal, gives away a penalty, saves the penalty. All action.
Joe Gomez- 5/10
Struggled to deal with Albrighton and didn’t look too confident. Did put in some good tackles and blocks, though.
Joel Matip- 6/10
Think he’s unlucky with the free kick given against him. Bit nervy at times but puts in some good blocks, including one that prompts the third goal.
Dejan Lovren- 6/10
Has the dodgiest of opening tens and wasn’t convincing throughout. Did win some good headers. Takes a great yellow, though. Celebrated that like a goal.
Alberto Moreno- 6/10
Starts well, getting forward down the left, and links up with Coutinho well. Generally sound defensively, some mad tackles, Mahrez wasn’t really bothered with him. Struggled to deal with Gray when he came on.
Jordan Henderson- 10/10
I want to be on Jordan Henderson’s night out. I know he doesn’t drink but that’s sound, I’ll do his drinking for him.
Great performance from the skipper, some great tackles, good ball recovery and some great passing. Starts the move for his goal and then finishes it off. Checks back, stands the goalkeeper up, and puts it past him. Screams at the linesman after their goal and was always in the ref’s ear. Is right.
That was a big ‘fuck off’ from him, a ‘fuck off’ to his critics. So, walk the fuck around him.
Emre Can- 7/10
Really strong first half, with some great runs with the ball. Unlucky to hit the post early on. Faded in the second half, and wasted a couple of good chances.
Georginio Wijnadlum- N/A
Mohamed Salah- 8/10
Mo Salah in a nutshell. Misses a chance, followed up by a great goal. Was really good down the right and linked up well with Coutinho.
Roberto Firmino- 6/10
Did a lot of good defensive work, as always. Was sadly lacking offensively, as a lot of the play was going down the flanks. Had one chance which he dragged wide which he should’ve done better with.
Philippe Coutinho- 8/10
Really good. Great cross for Salah’s goal and a great free kick for his own. Some great runs and some really nice interplay. Nice to see him back among the goals.
I’m made up for him, you know. I’ve spent the last month or so hating him but I’m actually really happy for him, I feel like that goal is a big goal for him.
Daniel Sturridge- 8/10
He’s brilliant, you know. Absolutely glorious. Everyone else on the football pitch looks like they’re struggling for time on the ball and Daniel Sturridge makes it look so easy.
Think Dan Sturridge might be the best footballer in the world tbh

He gets a couple of good shots off, creates chances, plays a great pass for Henderson’s goal. Loads of class and oozes genius. My dreams are filled with Daniel Sturridge being the absolute fucking business.
James Milner- 6/10
Worked hard when he came on. Also did a good job of helping out Gomez.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain- 6/10
Does some good. Does some bad. Looked bright and should probably have an assist.
Anthony Taylor- 0/10
